Some time ago I was asked for help to forge a special axe for the Midgard Herron, a Viking boat that will set sail in 2020 as part of the Midgard Expedition led by Tor Heyerdahl's grandson Bjorn. This request came from an expedition crew member, the boatbuilder's mate and outdoor survival specialist Susanne Williams (aka BushcraftGirl). Years ago I made her the first Karacal that turned into her trusted companion on all her adventures. 

As a crew member and expert sailor she needed a proper Naval Rescue Axe and I invited her to make this piece together. We worked together in my forge and did a thorough test of the axe later on. You may already have seen some moments of that on my FBpage.
